Accessories Complete the Package
Just as in the world of fine fashion, accessories can add pop and wow to an ordinary exhibit and make it stand out in the crowd. Whether you are using a tabletop display, a backwall display, or even a massive modular display, the right accessories will add impact to your booth. There are many options available to help get you seen.
One very popular option is to add color and a more complete look to a table top display by using a table throw. Table throws both cover and skirt your table. Utilizing a table throw allows you to carry your message to the floor, adding brand recognition, a way to hide boxes or promotional items and a more customized look for a minimal investment. A table throw may be as simple as having your logo and tag line printed via a thermal printer on a solid background, or can be 100% graphic coverage over the entire throw using dye-sublimation printing.
Another useful and attractive accessory for tradeshows are podium or counter desks. These items look similar to a conventional counter wrap where graphics cover the front of the desk. Behind the desk are shelves to store your literature, pads, pens laptop or your show give-aways. The podium and counter desks help keep your both clear of clutter while also adding more graphics space to draw prospects into your exhibit.
Other options include literature racks, incorporating retractable banners with your backwall booth displays, and using unique banner stands that are more than 10 feet in height to have your message seen above the crowd. Retractable Banners, the Swiss Army Knife of the Presentation World.
It’s a tabletop display. It’s a backwall. It’s a lobby graphic. It’s a booth accessory. It’s a retractable banner! If you are looking for one display style that is truly versatile, the retractable banner is the tool for you. By controlling how much of the banner is rolled out and displayed, retractable banners have the ability to transform into a solution compatible with any venue.
Their ease of use, versatility, and relatively low cost have made them one of the most popular solutions for the professional presenter and exhibitor.
As a tabletop - Most retractable displays either use pole segments or telescopic poles, allowing the height of the display to adjust to a wide ranges of sizes. Graphics may be designed so that when the graphic is not fully extended only part of the message is revealed.
In the samples shown here, a single graphic is extended to different heights to show more or less content. In this case, the same graphic and display can be used as either a tabletop or a stand alone banner.

As a backwall -Using several retractable banners in tandem, a booth backwall can be created. Just like when using retractables as tabletop displays, when creating a backwall you may design the message so the display looks just as good when one or all of the units are used.

When selecting retractable banners, you’ll choose two components: the physical display unit and the graphics that are shown on it. From “locked in” low cost units that are suitable for occasional use to rugged, versatile displays with interchangeable cartridges, retractable banners come in a wide range of prices and sizes. A 3’ wide retractable banner display can cost as little as $50 per unit (not including graphics).
Just like the displays, there is a wide variety of materials available for your graphics. Smooth blockout vinyl graphics are a professional looking, affordable media to use with retractables. At $9 per square foot, the graphics cost for a typical 3’ wide x 7’ tall retractable is about $189. Upgrade to our Professional Graphics material for brighter, deeper colors and a more durable print. These consist of a high contrast media laminated with a 5 mil textured laminate. This solution costs about $16.75 per square foot and a typical 3’ x 7’ retractable graphic would cost around $ 375.
There are also specialty retractables available addressing specific needs, including weighted outdoor retractable banner stands and large indoor banner stands as tall as 10 feet high or as wide as 8 feet.

Introducing the Designer’s Corner
The Imagination Center Newsletter, with extensive help from Tobin Lehman Design and Digital Bard Video, has just completed its third issue. The purpose of this newsletter is to keep designers abreast of new technologies and new products that are available to help get your message out.
In upcoming issues, we will include articles from the designers on information they have and would like to share. Although the major portion of this newsletter is dedicated to solution for large and grand format applications, the Designer’s Corner is open to all forms of advertising. This information may include conventional print information as well as information on new age advertising like web, blogs, tweets, and whatever tomorrow brings.
